Zoning Your Home

What is Zoning?

Zoning is the creation of distinct living areas in which the temperature is precisely controlled by its own thermostat.

Zoning divides your home into separate comfort areas and makes your comfort equipment cool or heat only areas that need conditioning. Maybe you have a home office that needs extra conditioning during the day, and none at night. Or you only use a extra bedroom when guests visit. Whatever your needs, zoning can keep each area of your house at the perfect temperature for you and each family member.

Imagine never thinking about the temperature around you because you're always perfectly comfortable. Bedrooms are refreshingly cool for sleeping. The kitchen isn't stifling hot. The den is completely cozy. Zoning gives you the control you need to enjoy perfect comfort, no matter where you choose to be inside your home.

Eliminate those too hot or too cold spots, reduced energy, maintenance, and equipment costs, and obtain greater enjoyment from the investment you have made in your home. And at the same time increase the resale value of your home.

SmartZone Systems delivers enhanced simple zoning solutions for new, retrofit residential or light commercial applications.  With reliable, flexible engineering built into every product, quick configuration for single or multi-stage-equipment, including gas, electric, heat pumps or dual fuel applications is standard.

Common sense LED indicators, plus a display panel quickly show thermostat and equipment calls, supply air temperature, individual Zone Damper Status (open or closed).  Combined with the NetX communicating thermostats, control is as close as the PC, which can remotely monitor and control the system providing energy savings and superior service functions.

3 Zone Wall Mounted Ductless Mini-Split Systems
Take care of 3 separate zoned areas with ease. This ductless mini-split system has the capability to add a 4th zone in the future if needed. Quiet, comfortable, flexible, and high efficient.

Hydronic Heating Systems Zoning
Hydronic heating systems are hot water heating systems that use water as a medium for conveying and transmitting the heat to the various rooms and spaces within a structure. Hydronic heating systems are based either on gravity flow principle or forced circulation. Hydronic heating or forced-hot-water heating is widely used in residential and commercial structures.

In a typical hot-water-heating system, the water is heated in a boiler or water heater and circulated through pipes to baseboard convectors or radiators located in various rooms. The energy source used to heat water may be oil, natural gas, propane, electricity, or a solid fuel, depending on the heating unit type.

The hot water is circulated through pipes to baseboard convectors or radiators located along the walls of the rooms, or through radiant panels installed in the floors or ceilings. A centrally located thermostat controls the rooms temperature in small residential and commercial buildings.

In larger houses and commercial buildings, the heating systems are zoned with individual thermostats and zoning valves to control the temperatures in each zone.

For Larger homes and building: Two pipe Steam System Zoning or Hydronic Mono-flow Zoning

2-Pipe Low Pressure Steam Valves
These 2-pipe low pressure steam valves are available in sizes ranging from 1/2" to 1-1/4" and are available in three different orientations to accommodate the supply valve to the heating unit. Based upon the valve selected, an appropriate thermostatic operator is mounted to the valve to provide non-electric control of the temperature within the room.

2-Pipe Hot Water Valves
These 2-pipe how water valves are available in sizes ranging from 1/2" to 1-1/4" and are available in three different orientations to accommodate the supply valve to the heating unit. Straight double solder unions valves are also available in 1/2" & 3/4" sizes. Installation of the valve should be in the flow direction as reflected by the arrow stamped on the valve. Based upon the valve selected, an appropriate thermostatic operator is mounted to the valve to provide non-electric control of the temperature within the room.

1-Pipe Low Pressure Steam Valve
The one pipe system valve is designed for one pipe steam systems where a single pipe delivers low pressure steam and receives the condensate. The radiator thus allowing an appropriate amount of steam to enter. By providing control over the ambient air temperature over heating within the room is reduced and comfort is achieved.

Conversion Valve
The conversion valve is a special valve assembly that allows a single connection point- at the side of the radiator- to serve as both the supply and return for a hot water based system. One such application of the conversion valve is the transition of a cast iron 1-pipe steam radiator to hot water. With the conversion valve the system can be transformed to a conventional one pipe hot water (diverter) or two pipe hot water systems.

With the installation of the valve any thermostatic operator or TWA electronic actuator can be mounted, providing individual temperature regulation and controlled comfort for the room.
